The origins of Metrocore Aviation Group go back to 2007 when CRAFTconsult LLC was founded by its current CEO. During its early stages the company was primarily providing  consulting services in the arena of airline and business aviation operations.

In 2015 the name changed to Metrocore and the company was upgraded from a Limited Liability Company (GmbH) to a private shareholding company (Aktiengesellschaft), at that juncture the share capital was increased to better facilitate its ongoing investment and advisory activities.

In the year 2020 Metrocore Aviation Group AG was established to further enhance the accretive acquisition strategy and aviation related M&A activities of the Group.

Oliver Meier
Founder, CEO

Since joining the airline industry in 1997, Oliver Otto Meier has been a pivotal player in various capacities and management roles for pre-eminent airlines such as the former Swissair Group, Swiss International Air Lines, Gulf Air, Emirates Airline and other international airlines and business aviation operators.

His experience over the years has covered various aspects of airline operations, aircraft engineering, logistics and airline strategic management. Moreover, Oliver Meier is an experienced Captain on Airbus A320, A330, A340 aircraft and has accumulated approximately 9000 flying hours.

Recently Mr Meier was instrumental in expanding the aviation and aerospace practice of a reputable management consulting firm. In that role he has restructured the operations department of an established low-cost airline and has helped several operators to improve their operational integrity, organisational effectiveness and profitability. Furthermore, he advises airline supervisory boards, senior government officials, sovereign wealth funds and a head of state on matters of airline strategy and air transport policy.

Besides consulting and interim management engagements one of his priorities today are aerospace and aviation related investment opportunities, joint ventures and M&A.

Capt. Meier holds a Master of Science degree in Air Transport Management from City University London and has completed the highly selective Executive Leadership Development Programme with the Emirates Airline Group in Dubai.

Capt. Olivier Nicola
Key Account Manager – Operations

Olivier Nicola entered the world of aviation in 1989 and has gained a great level of experience in different roles with various commercial airlines (Swissair, Crossair, Gulf Air, Vueling, Etihad airways, Volotea and Wamos) and business jet operators (Jet Aviation and Flightline UK).

His areas of expertise are ground and air operations. He is an experienced ground ops manager, pilot and flight instructor having worked in all types of air operations (full-service airlines, charter, low-cost, ACMI and VIP airlines).

He is also a quality auditor and has recently worked on medical evacuation projects, operational quality audits and implementation of operational structures in different countries on several continents (French Caribbean, Cambodia, Uruguay, Benin and Portugal).

Captain Olivier Nicola graduated from Geneva Business School and HEC (Higher Commercial Studies) and has completed the Swissair Management Trainee Apprenticeship.

Capt. Lucas Ochsner
Partner – Aviation Advisory

Lucas Ochsner has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry in various operational and senior management positions. Mr. Ochsner started at the Swiss Aviation School in the late 80’s and worked for Swissair, Balair and Belair as captain, instructor and examiner on various aircraft types (B767/B757, MD11, A310, A320, F100) in a worldwide commercial operation (full service and charter) and accumulated 12’000 flight hours.

In 2009, Mr. Ochsner moved into management and held various senior and executive management positions. As Vice President Training, he achieved an airline integration and fleet change (Boeing to Airbus) within 12 months. In 2014, as CEO and Accountable Manager of Belair Airlines, Mr. Ochsner initiated and successfully completed a restructuring program with operational savings of more than 30%. From 2017, he worked in Berlin as Senior Vice President Flight Operations, Cabin & Training at Air Berlin. Additional responsibilities as Managing Director of 9 aircraft leasing companies (Luxembourg) complete his profile.

Mr. Ochsner has profound knowledge and experience in the areas of operations, restructuring, merger integration and crisis management as well as safety and quality management, aviation security and internal audit.
